Cardea C1:

The C1 might be the entry-level Cardea loudspeaker but its performance gives little away to many higher-priced models. The 12 litre, reflex-ported cabinet is substantially constructed from high-grade 18mm MDF and beautifully finished in furniture quality real wood veneer. The main driver has an 18cm cast chassis and a coated paper cone; this unit offers high power handling, a very smooth frequency response and clean bass performance.
In common with all the Cardea loudspeakers, the quality of treble is outstanding: the 25mm, fabric dome unit is a version of the very high-end Excel tweeter from Seas and is usually found in much more expensive designs.
Both drivers are neatly rebated into the cabinet and the grille is mounted via concealed magnets to maintain a clean aesthetic.
The C1 is a solid and dynamic loudspeaker with an open and accurate midrange and a subtly detailed treble. It maintains a stable stereo image and will play at surprisingly high volumes without compression or distortion. The easy 8 ohm impedance means that the loudspeaker will work with a wide range of amplifiers.
